Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that AP had surpassed nation’s average growth of four years by almost doubling the income, a feat that his government has achieved without Centre’s cooperation.
Speaking to reporters here on Thursday, he said his government is aiming at 1 trillion dollar economy by 2029. He said while AP’s four-year average growth stood at 10.52 per cent, the all India growth was only 7.3 per cent.
Mr Naidu said AP had achieved double-digit growth continuously for four years which no other state in the country witnessed and credited the achievement to the perfect planning and convergence using technology by his government. In the last four years, the state’s income had witnessed a jump by 73 per cent while the GSDP had doubled, he said.
He further said though the Centre had promised to increase income of farmers, their talk didn’t match their action on the ground.
The agriculture sector in AP witnessed 11 per cent growth while the all India average was at a meagre 2.4 pc in the sector. While the agriculture income of the state was Rs 1.28 lakh cr in 2013-14, it went up to Rs 2.53 crore with 97 per cent jump after four years. “Revival of irrigation tanks and interlinking of rivers helped in this area.”he said.
We could revive and bring sustainability in agriculture by taking up 62 irrigation projects, interlinking of rivers,” he said.
Though the per capita income is low than the other southern states it had increased by 71 pc over the last four years, he said and added that Andhra Pradesh is ahead of the country in all the sectors except services. The chief minister said state government had spent Rs 62,000crs on welfare activities and Rs 60,000crs on irrigation activities and paid Rs 10,000crs through NREGS. By spending Rs 80,000crs Naidu said his government will be constructing 25lakh houses.
