Security beefed up for President Ramnath Kovind's visit to Visakhapatnam
Visakhapatnam: Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place in Vizag city for President of India, the supreme commander of armed forces Ramnath Kovind’s visits on Thursday and Friday. The President will be in Vizag city for two days and he has a number of programmes scheduled in the city and in Eastern Naval Command.
The city police were seen giving the final touches to the security arrangements to the president’s visit. A senior police officer on condition of anonymity said that the President in total will be travelling over 100 kms by road during the two days. Sanitising the road has been our main focus. On Wednesday, the bomb disposal squad and dog squad members were seen checking every nook and corner of the roads on which the presidential convoy is scheduled to move.
Sources said that the President will spend most of his time in the Naval Base. Apart from manpower, each venue has been scanned by the squads and DFMD (door frame metal detectors) have been installed. In addition, security personnel will be present with HFMD at all entry points. The city traffic police has imposed certain traffic restrictions at several areas in the city.
