Kerala: Plea to drop MLA from green panel
Thiruvananthapuram: Former KPCC president V. M. Sudheeran has written to assembly speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan demanding the removal of Nilambur MLA P. V. Anwar from the environment committee, headed by Mullakkara Ratnakaran. Anil Akkara, K. Babu, O.R. Kelu, P.T A. Rahim, K.M. Shaji, K.V. Vijayadas and M. Vincent are other members of the panel.
In a Facebook post revealing this, Mr Sudheeran said it was ironic a person embroiled in an encroachment case is a member of the environment committee. He said there was an impropriety in him continuing on the panel as it would defame the legislature. The ruling legislator representing Nilambur had set up a water theme park in an ecologically sensitive area flouting norms. It is situated 2000 feet above sea level in Kakkadampoyil. The panchayat secretary provided all assistance, and it started before getting NOC and other clearances from the panchayat.
