Cyberabad police crackdown on vehicle insurance; 25,000 cases booked
Hyderabad: The deadline set by the Cyberabad police for procuring the third-party insurance concluded with many violators falling in the police net. The police has started a crackdown on motor insurance.
Nearly 25,493 cases were registered and ten vehicles were seized from January 1 to November 30 this year.
In the Cyberabad area alone, Rs 2.53 crore was collected as fine from motorists without insurance papers from January 1 to November 30.
A.R. Srinivas, Cyberabad traffic DCP, said, “We are going to conduct special drives and will increase checks to verify if vehicles have valid insurance papers. Strict action will be taken and the vehicles will be seized.”
Five school buses were among the violators, while the maximum number of motorcyclists was found without valid insurance papers.
The largest number of cases was reported in Kukatpally and Madhapur which are densely populated by IT employees.
