Mini-theatres likely at RTC bus complexes

The state government is considering allowing film shoots at historical places.

Hyderabad: The state government is considering allowing film shoots at historical places, permitting screening of a fifth show in theatres for small budget and other films and setting up mini theatres in RTC bus complexes. The government is also considering introducing a single window clearance system including grant of permission for film shoots within seven days and new film colonies at Abdullapurmet and Koheda among others.

Cinematography minister T. Srinivas Yadav met with government adviser Dr K.V. Ramanachary, Information and Public Relations Commissioner, Navin Mittal and others for working out modalities for the state film awards replacing Nandi awards and discussed other film related issues. “The first film awards of the Telangana state government will be presented on Ugadi next year. The government has constituted a committee headed by Dr Ramanachary to select a suitable name for the award. It’s under process,” the minister said.

At present, the film awards are named after N.T. Rama Rao, Paidi Jayraj, Raghupathi Venkayya, Kanta Rao, Prabhakar Reddy and Sarojini Naidu. “Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will announce the name of the film award and the road map for development of Telugu film industry next month. Mr Rao desires that a new film city be established in Racha-konda, but no decision has been taken,” he said.

The minister discussed online ticketing, mini cultural centres at select places, and establishment of an international film institute on the lines of Pune Film institute. “We were informed that there are certain problems in online ticketing. The government is also considering providing subsidy to message oriented children’s film and films with historical background. We are taking the opinion of stalwarts of film industry on all these aspects,” he added. Mr Srinivas Yadav, members of the Film Development Corporation and other associates paid tribute to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, who died in Chennai on Monday.
