TRS activist stoned to death
Hyderabad: A Telangana Rashtra Samiti party worker was stoned to death at Sultanpur village in Parigi in Vikarabad district in the early hours of Tuesday. Police said they have taken seven people into custody in connection with the incident.
The followers of the deceased person, Pirangi Narayana Reddy, attacked two Congress party workers and injured them, alleging that they were responsible for the murder.
The death of, and attack on, members of the two major political parties in the state created some tension in Sultanapur village. The Vikarabad police immediately beefed up security in the village.
Pirangi Narayana Reddy, 65, a native of Sultanpur was a TRS activist. Some of Narayana Reddy’s followers had joined the Congress and this had created some hostility between them and Narayana Reddy.
The police however said that it could be personal rivalry that led to the murder of Narayana Reddy. They say this because on Monday, a panchayat was held in the village after Reddy’s driver Mallaiah made objectionable comments against a woman. Reddy is said to have supported Mallaiah. In early hours of Tuesday, Reddy set out for his fields as was his routine. When he reached the outskirts, unidentified persons attacked him with stones and sticks and beat him to death.
