According to sources, an advocate based at Koyilandi has already sent a complaint to the police seeking action against Mr Pillai. Based on that, the police would be taking legal action.

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s private secretary M.V. Jayarajan told DC that the police would take further action after getting legal opinion.

Meanwhile, state police chief Loknath Behera said that he was yet to receive any complaint in this regard. He also said that there was legal restriction for the police in registering a case suo motu.

“I have not received any petitions. Once I receive a petition, further steps would be taken. We have restrictions to take suo motu action on the basis of television or newspaper reports as there are Supreme Court rulings,” said Mr Behera.
