Hyderabad: Those working in tech companies often abandon their posh canteens and can be seen thronging street-side food stalls during the lunch break. Roadside eateries are a big hit in the financial district with techies from Amazon, Google and other companies even though some of the office canteens offer 20 different kinds of delicacies free of cost.
Non-locals have made biryani part of their lunch menu while Tawa Bonda is a must for breakfast. Dosa Gadi in the morning and evening is a ritual for many. For anyone feeling peckish at around 4 pm there is an array of sellers who do brisk business till late at night. The food is sold from cycles, motor-bikes and cars since stalls are not allowed.
Snehitha Nandan, who works with Google, said the financial district is very near her office “and occasionally we come here since the taste is good, very affordable and the quality of the food is maintained.” The endorsement from the techies helps run their businesses, vendors say.
