Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation on Tuesday fined Karachi Bakery for selling unhygienic food. It had collected three samples from the food joint and had sent them to the food sampling testing lab for further investigation.

A customer had lodged a complaint with the civic body after finding worms in a sealed chocolate box which was purchased from the Karachi Ameerpet branch. According to GHMC Food Safety Inspector, Mr. Sudharshan Reddy, the corporation has penalised the eatery with Rs 5,000.

“Though Karachi was not the manufacturer of the sold product, it has been fined for selling unhygienic food. The corporation as a safety measure, has collected three more samples and sent it to the food sampling testing lab in Nacharam for further investigation,” he said.
