Hunt for 2 Hyderabad girls who fell in river on

The incident occurred near the Chamundeshwari temple in Chilapched mandal in Medak district.

Hyderabad: More than 24 hours after the two Hyderabad girls accidentally fell into the Manjeera river and washed away in Medak district, there is no clue about them.

Teams from the police, revenue, irrigation and fisheries departments are searching for the missing girls — Rohitha and Srividya. Meanwhile, irrigation officials have closed the gates of the Singur dam for a smooth search operation.

The incident occurred near the Chamundeshwari temple in Chilapched mandal in Medak district.

Mr N Tirupathi Raju, circle inspector, Narsapur, said that after the gates were closed the water flow became normal and the water level receded. However, there is no clue about the girls.

“Teams from the fisheries department have deployed rafts in the river. Teams from other departments are also assisting them,” said Mr Raju.

The mishap occurred on Sunday evening when a 30-member group of families of employees working in Srilekha stuffed rice making unit in Patel Nagar, visited the Chamundeshwari temple. At the temple, they offered the puja and then went to the river bank for a holy dip.
