Deadline over, 844 potholes yet to be filled across Bengaluru

According to the data released by the BBMP, the city has 844 potholes and the Palike covered 152 potholes on Sunday.

Bengaluru: Though the second deadline to fill the killer potholes too got over, the city still has a whopping 844 craters on roads across the city, as per BBMP figures.

“People expected the city roads to be smooth by November 7. But it clearly shows that the promise has not been kept. The deadline was set by none other than Chief Minister Siddarmaiah, despite that BBMP authorities have failed to deliver. Will they listen to the common man’s plea,” asked Dr Nagaraj, a resident of Rajajinagar.

According to the data released by the BBMP, the city has 844 potholes and the Palike covered 152 potholes on Sunday. At this rate, the Palike needs at least six more days to fill all the potholes, he said.

The BBMP data also showed that three zones – West, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Yelahanka and Mahadevapura have zero potholes. East zone, which includes Indiranagar, Thippasandra, Old Madras Road, Shantinagar, M.G. Road, Residency Road and Shantinagar, has 353 potholes.

BBMP Engineer in Chief (EiC) M.R. Venkatesh told Deccan Chronicle that potholes are being filled on a war footing. “Though November 5 was the deadline, it was extended by a day. All the potholes will be filled by Tuesday. The mild rain over the city may affect the work, but majority of the potholes will be filled,” he said.
