Anti-Tipu Jayanti organisation leader's car damaged

Ram's SUV was parked outside his house in the night and when he went for a morning walk.

BENGALURU: The windshield of an SUV belonging to a BJP worker was smashed by unidentified men in the Nelamangala Town police station limits on Sunday night.

The damaged Tata Safari car belongs to Ram, a resident of Maruthi Layout in Nelamangala, who is also a BJP leader and claims to be the president of Tipu Jayanti Virodha Horata Samiti, the police said.

Ram’s SUV was parked outside his house in the night and when he went for a morning walk, he found the rear windshield of the vehicle smashed. Later, he filed a complaint with the police.

Some reports suggested that the car was damaged as Ram had filed a petition two days ago, seeking the police not to give permission to celebrate Tipu Jayanti.

The police clarified that Ram had come to the station to give the petition, but a complaint was registered as the ‘Tipu Jayanti Virodha Horata Samiti’ is not a registered organisation.

“When the organisation itself is not registered, he can’t claim to be its president. We did not accept his petition. However, we have registered a non-cognisable report in connection with the damage to his car and it will be investigated,” said a police official.
