Hyderabad: Killer road claims 1 more life
Hyderabad: Bad roads in city continue to claim lives. A 33-year-old employee of a private company was killed and his friend injured in an accident at Santoshnagar in the wee hours of Sunday.
Harikrishna was riding his bike and in an attempt to avoid a damaged stretch on the road near DRDL, he lost control and rammed it into a divider and died on the spot. His friend Balakrishna, who was riding pillion, suffered fractures.
At the junction near DRDL in front of Mytri Wines, Harikrishna suddenly noticed a damaged portion in the middle of the road and applied sudden brake. As a result, both riders were thrown into the air. Both of them were wearing helmet at the time of the accident. However, Harikrishna had not strapped on his helmet.
It came off; he suffered head injury and died on the spot. Balakrishna who had strapped on his helmet escaped with fractures. This is a third such incident in the city since September. Based on a complaint from a constable, Rahul, who reached the spot, a case of accidental death and causing injuries was registered.
“We are verifying the details of the case. Based on the PME and further inquiry, we will proceed.” sub-inspector K. Ravi said. Locals said that the damaged stretch was carpeted a few weeks ago, but it returned to its old state, possibly due to poor quality of work.
