Sleuth’s call to petitioner: Karnataka high court to probe

Terming it is a serious accusation, the court has directed that inquiry report be submitted before the court by September 13.

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has ordered an inquiry into the allegation by one of its petitioners that a state intelligence officer had phoned him seeking details of the PIL filed by him and relevant documents.

The petitioner, Mallikarjuna A, an agriculturist and resident of Cheluru village at Gubbi taluk in Tumakuru district, who had filed the petition on lapses in providing relief to cattle owners as per the Disaster Management Act, submitted the CD containing the alleged conversation between him and the ‘officer’.

Terming it is a serious accusation, the court has directed that inquiry report be submitted before the court by September 13.

Meanwhile, the Karnataka Legal Services Authority submitted its report over 20 various cattle camps in the state.

Summons to Revanna
After the summons issued against Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna could not be served, as he was unavailable at the given address, the High Court has allowed for publication of the summons in the state level newspapers. The High Court had ordered notice to Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, asking him to appear in person or through his counsel before the court following an election petition filed by former minister A. Manju, seeking his disqualification.

Manju, who lost the Lok Sabha contest from Hassan, claimed that Revanna, the winning candidate, had failed to declare his assets in full before the Election Commission of India (ECI). The petitioner's advocate on Friday submitted that when Hassan court staff reached the address of Revanna as mentioned in the nomination papers filed by him during the Lok Sabha elections, they could not reach him, and hence sought for permission to publish the summons in newspapers.

Waste treatment
The High Court on Friday asked the state government to take steps in notifying by-laws for solid waste management. The court was hearing a batch of public interest litigations filed by Kavitha Shankar, and others alleging palike of dumping solid waste in the quarries of Bagalur, Mittiganahalli and Bellahalli.

Plea against Sudhakar
The High Court has directed the State Government to file its statement of objections on or before September 20, to the petition challenging the appointment of Dr K. Sudhakar as chairman of KSPCB.
