Bengaluru: Security has been beefed up in and around Bengaluru as part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city on Friday night to witness the historic Chandrayaan-2 landing early Saturday.

City police commissioner Bhaskar Rao said that elaborate security arrangements have been made by the city police, apart from the SPG security that accompanies the prime minister.

Mr Modi landed at Yelahanka Air Force Station on Friday night and stayed at a private hotel in the city before heading to the ISRO Telemetry Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Peenya to witness the live Chandrayaan-2’s landing module ‘Vikram’ trying to pull off a historic soft-landing on the lunar surface. He will then leave for Mumbai on the same day.
