Kozhikode corporation, dist admn to spot location for traffic park
KOZHIKODE: Transport Minister A.K. Saseendran has informed that the district administration and the Kozhikode corporation would jointly find a suitable place to set up a traffic park in the district.
“We have been told that the private company Honda will cover the cost of maintenance and training if the basic infrastructure for the park is provided,” said A.K. Saseendran. He was speaking after a meeting at the guest house on setting up a traffic park. The project is being implemented in the district in partnership with private motor company Honda. Honda delegates have been requested to see if the work can be completed using the CSR ( Corporate Social Responsibility) fund.
The State Motor Vehicle Department and the Police Department have set up traffic parks in various parts of the state to create traffic awareness among students.
The cost of building the infrastructure for the park is estimated to be around Rs 2 crore. There will also be facilities for cycling and the use of electric vehicles.
District collector Seeram Sambasiva Rao, deputy mayor Meera Darshak, tahsildar E. Anithakumari, city police commissioner A.V. George, joint transport commissioner Rajeev Puthalath, dep-uty transport commiss-ioner T.C. Vineesh, RTO M.P. Subhash Babu, RTO (Enforcement) P.M. Shabir and Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Private Ltd brand and communication vice-president Prabhu Nagaraj, among others were present.
