Dissolution is for stability, says K Chandrasekhar Rao

Mr Rao lashed out at the Congress terming it Villain No. 1 of Telangana state since the Nehru regime.

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday said the TRS had sacrificed nine months of its tenure and power by dissolving the Legislative Assembly for the betterment and future of the state, besides curbing growing political fragility and intolerance exhibited by Opposition parties. Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan after the Assembly was dissolved on Thursday, the Chief Minister explained the reasons which led to dissolution of the House.

Mr Rao said the Opposition was levelling mindless, baseless and meaningless graft charges against the TRS government day after day, which was hurting the interests and progress of Telangana. He said he did not want the state’s interests and development to be hit on account of these mindless acts of the Opposition and so had decided to dissolve the House, shut the mouth of the Opposition, and seek a fresh mandate from the people.

“Opposition parties have been making false corruption allegations against the TRS government since it assumed office in June 2014. We challenged them numerous times to prove at least one allegation, which they could not do so far. They continue to make these false graft charges against us. I wanted to put an end to this. Why this brickbats in the back (sic)? Let us all go to the people and seek a mandate,” Mr Rao said.

He accused Opposition parties of crossing all limits in levelling graft charges against any scheme introduced by his government, be it irrigation projects, Mission Bhagiratha, Mission Kakatiya etc. He stated that sacrifices were not new for the TRS as the party was formed on the foundation of sacrifices and Telangana state was achieved by MLAs and MPs sacrificing their posts several times. Mr Rao lashed out at the Congress terming it Villain No. 1 of Telangana state since the Nehru regime.
