Hyderabad: Residents of Barkas upset with SBI

Mr Kaseri and other protestors demanded that the higher authorities immediately intervene and sort out the issue.

Hyderabad: Residents of Barkas staged a protest in front of the State Bank of India, Chandrayangutta branch, demanding better facilities from the bank. The trouble started after the SBI account holders had to wait for hours to do their banking work as there was a mammoth rush at the bank. Mr. Talha Kaseri, an account holder along with other account holders staged a protest in front of the bank. They alleged that after the merger of the State Bank of Hyderabad with State Bank of India the number of customers had increased manifold but the bank had not made the mandatory provisions to cater to the larger clientele.

Mr Kaseri and other protestors demanded that the higher authorities immediately intervene and sort out the issue.

"There are only four counters at the bank to attend to the account holders. People are waiting for hours to withdraw or deposit money every day," he complained. Following the protest outside the bank, the Chandrayangutta police rushed to the spot and picked up Mr Talha Kaseri and a few others and shifted them to the police station. They were released later.

When contacted, the Assistant General Manager, Mr. Srinivas Reddy said that they would be opening two additional counters.
