Extended immersions lead to traffic snarls at Tank Bund

Immersion processions concluded at 1 pm, after which all diversions and restrictions were relaxed.

Hyderabad: Due to Ganesh immersions, traffic was not allowed to pass through the Tank Bund area from 7 am to 10 am on Wednesday. Traffic jams were witnessed at the Begumpet Flyover, Greenlands, Lakdikapul, Jubilee Hills and Masab Tank. Immersion processions concluded at 1 pm, after which all diversions and restrictions were relaxed.

Traffic moved slowly in areas such as Kavadiguda, Lower Tank Bund, Rasoolpura, Greenland Junction, Mettuguda, Alugadda Bavi, and Sangeeth X-roads from 8 am to 11 am. The traffic jams cleared up once the Tank Bund road was opened to the general public.

Though commuters had been requested to avoid routes passing through Tank Bund, a few people were unaware of the restrictions imposed by the Hyderabad Traffic Police. They were forced to move to alternate routes upon learning that the Tank Bund road was closed.

DCP (Traffic) A.V. Ranganath said, “Due to Ganesh immersions in the morning hours of Wednesday, the movement of traffic was slow. However, the congestion was cleared soon. Immersions concluded between 12 pm and 1 pm, and all the restrictions were relaxed after that. If the immersions had continued today, we wouldn’t have allowed traffic into the Tank Bund area. But because the immersions concluded early, all the roads were cleared by 1 pm.”
