Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu would lay the foundation stone for the second phase of Chintalapudi lift irrigation works at Muddulaparva village in Krishna district, as part of Jalasiriki Harati programme on Thursday.
The state government has been giving priority to irrigation projects as they would provide water to agricultural lands.
The first phase of Chintalapudi lift irrigation scheme was taken up at a cost of Rs 1,701 crore and the Chief Minister will lay foundation for the second phase works costing Rs 3,208.80 crore to supply Godavari water to both West Godavari and Krishna districts, for drinking water and irrigation needs of the people there.
The scheme would help to stabilise the ayacut of 2.10 lakh acres in 18 mandals in both the districts as farmers are suffering due to lack of water supply from Nagarjunasagar left canal in the III zone.
In the first phase, the Godavari water will be lifted at Tadipudi village in WG district and supplied to Guddigudem village in Gopalapuram mandal through lead channel. From there, water will be lifted by arranging 14 pumps to Chintalapudi LI main canal.
