Teacher's organs donated to the Jeevandan scheme in Telangana
The doctors declared him brain dead on September 3 and Jeevandaan volunteers counselled the family on the importance of organ donation.
Hyderabad: Five organs of a 56-year-old music teacher Santosh Joshi who was declared brain dead were donated by his family to the Jeevandan scheme of the government on Tuesday.
Joshi was hit by a car while crossing the road on September 2 and had suffered head injuries. He was admitted to the Navjeevan Hospital in Trimulgherry.
Following an improvement in his condition, the family shifted him to Sai Vani Hospital at Lower Bank bund. The doctors declared him brain dead on September 3 and Jeevandaan volunteers counselled the family on the importance of organ donation.
Ms Joshi and their son Arun agreed and five organs of Santosh Joshi — the one liver, two eyes and two kidneys — were donated.
