30,000-kg laddu to reach Visakhapatnam from Tapeswaram

The 78-feet Ganesh idol at Gajuwaka area in Vizag will receive a gigantic 30,000 kg laddu.

Visakhapatnam: The 78-feet Ganesh idol at Gajuwaka area in Vizag will receive a gigantic 30,000 kg laddu from Tapeswaram of East Godavari district late on Tuesday night. The laddu was prepared by Sri Bhakthanjaneya’s Suruchi Foods, popular sweets and savouries maker in the state.

Though it was initially planned to make a 12,500 kg laddu, the sweet maker later decided to go for 30,000 kg, which would cost around Rs 30 lakh. Not to disturb the giant laddu, it is being transported in a container truck and at minimum speed. “We have just started loading the giant laddu at Tapeswaram into a container. It will move at minimum speed and so it may reach Vizag late on Tuesday night. We will start distributing the laddu from tomorrow morning. Around 20 persons exclusively worked on the laddu for around four days,” said P. Malli Babu of Suruchi Foods.

The giant laddu will last for 12 days without getting spoilt. He added that it had become a custom and sentiment for them to offer a giant laddu to Gajuwaka Ganesh pandal since few years. A video of the laddu preparation was taken and it will be sent to the authorities of Guinness Book of World Records.
