TRS leader fails to get bail in FRO attack case
Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court was not inclined to grant bail to Koneru Krishna, the brother of TRS MLA Koneru Konappa, for assaulting forest range officer Chole Anitha with his aides on June 30.
Krishna was arrested with 15 aides for assaulting the officer with sticks when she along with other forest officials were trying to take up an afforestation drive in Sarasala in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district.
Justice Ghandikota Sri Devi was dealing with a petition filed by Krishna Rao who said there was no specific overt act as to the commission of offences and said he would abide by the conditions imposed by the court.
Mr B. Vijaysena Reddy, counsel for the petitioner, alleged the police without evidence had booked Krishna under several sections of the Indian Penal Code as well as the SC, ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
He said Ms Anitha had suffered minor injuries. The SC, ST (POA) Act was fabricated as he had abused the forest staff who came with the forest range officer, he said. He did did not know their names and castes.
Mr C. Pratap Reddy, public prosecutor, said investigation was in progress and some of the witnesses have to be examined.
“If bail is granted at this time, the morale of the womenfolk who were working in the forest department would be largely affected,” Mr Pratap Reddy told the High Court.
