Hyderabad: No barricades, biker falls into ditch, dies

Biker sustains head injury, dies on way to hospital.

Hyderabad: A 34-year-old man died when his bike fell into a nala on Monday. There were apparently no barricades or proper sign boards warning of an under-construction drainage.

Chandanagar police has registered a case of accidental death on Tuesday and further investigation is on.

According to the police, V. Srikanth Reddy, employed at MSN, a company in Jinnaram, was on his way home after work. He was travelling towards the Chanda-nagar main road from PJR Enclave.

Inspector B. Ravinder of the Chandanagar police, said, “Drainage construction work was going on. The contractor failed to instal barricades or proper sign boards. Srikanth might have been confused and fell into the drainage and sustained a severe head injury.”

Passers-by took him to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead. When Srikanth’s wife called her husband's mobile, the person who answered informed her about the accident and where Srikanth had been taken.

The wife rushed to the hospital and identified her husband and later lodged a complaint against the contractor and other officials who are looking after the drainage construction works, for their negligent attitude in not installing barricades and warning sign boards.

The police has booked a case under Section 304(a).
