Osmania University JAC split over Rahul Gandhi's meeting
HYDERABAD: Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s proposed visit to Osmania University this month has triggered a lot of criticism from local student leaders and Joint Action Committee (JAC) in Osmania University. The OU-JAC said that they will not allow Rahul Gandhi to enter the university as many students sacrificed their life as Congress party delayed a separate Telangana state.
Dudimetla Balaraju Yadav, chairman of the JAC, Osmania University said, “Rahul Gandhi never even took the name of Telangana state. Then, why is he visiting Osmania University now? He is just coming to ask for votes from people of Telangana. If Rahul Gandhi wants to enter OU, then he should rub his nose on Gun Park. Then, we will allow him to enter the varsity.””
“Rahul Gandhi should also meet the families of Telangana martrys and apologise. We will strongly condemn his visit to the university and we will never let him enter the OU campus. If he tries to visit the campus, we will conduct huge protests against him and will gherao him and will prevent his entry into the campus,” he said.
However, Krishank Manne, a spokersperson of OU-JAC alleged the students who are opposing were never a part of the OU-JAC and that they are from TRS Vidhyarthi Vibhagam. “Students who are opposing were never a part of OU-JAC. They are mouthpieces of TRS, from their student outfit, and BJP fears that Rahulji's visit would attract students and unemployed youth towards Congress, which is the only alternate in Telangana, and students have invited Rahul Gandhi to thank Congress Party without which Telangana would not have been a reality,” Krishank Manne said.
