My son Prajwal can't enter poll fray now, says H D Revanna

Gowda had also reportedly stated that he would not like to enter Parliament on a wheelchair.

HASSAN: Minister for Public Works and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H.D. Revanna on Monday said that his son Prajwal will have to wait before he takes the plunge into electoral politics. “I entered electoral politics at the age of 32 and Prajwal has just turned 28, he can wait and work for the success of the party in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections before he enters the fray,” he said.

Earlier, the grandfather of Prajwal and former prime minister H.D. Deve Gowda had hinted that Prajwal could be the candidate of the Janata Dal (Secular) for the Hassan Lok Sabha seat in the 2019 polls. During the Assembly polls earlier this year, Gowda had said that he was 84 and his health might not allow him to contest another election which was why he may make way for Prajwal. Gowda had also reportedly stated that he would not like to enter Parliament on a wheelchair.

However, Revanna said that there is still almost a year left for the Lok Sabha polls and the candidates will be decided by party leaders. On reports that Prajwal may contest from Hassan while his grandfather Mr Deve Gowda will shift to the Mandya Lok Sabha seat, Revanna said, “You (electronic media) keep flashing speculative news.”
