Hyderabad: A 19-year-old girl died at a private hospital in Hyderabad after she underwent a surgery for aborting her pregnancy, a police official said on Monday.
The engineering student, who was about five months pregnant, was admitted to the hospital on Sunday night by her boyfriend for abortion, he said.
However, after her health deteriorated following the surgery, she was shifted to another hospital where she was declared brought dead, the official said.
The girl's father lodged a complaint with police alleging negligence on part of the doctors during surgery leading to her death, Vanasthalipuram police station's inspector S Murali Krishna said.
The police have registered a case under relevant IPC sections for causing miscarriage, death caused by act done with an intent to cause miscarriage and cheating, he said.
As per preliminary investigation, the girl had a physical relationship with a photographer, he said.
The police are questioning the doctor of the hospital where the surgery was conducted and the deceased's boyfriend, the official added.
