Separate Rail Budget needed: MP Boinapally Vinod Kumar
KARIMNAGAR: TRS senior leader and former MP, Boinapally Vinod Kumar in a letter to railway minister, Piyush Goyal on Saturday, requested him to present a separate railway budget from the next financial year, 2020.
Mr Vinod Kumar stated that the merger of the railway budget with the Union budget should have allocated more funds for the laying of new railway lines and new projects to the railway department but was disappointed with the Union budget presented by the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday, as the BJP government had treated it like any other department.
People in the past waited eagerly for the separate railway budget to be presented, anticipating allocation of funds for new railway lines and trains to their areas and to the projects which were in progress.
But the government had allocated funds for Metro and Bullet trains which were of no use for the poor and middle class people that constituted majority of population in India, he added.
Mr Vinod Kumar alleged that even after completing 24 hours after the presentation of the railway budget in the Parliament, neither the people of this country nor the officials were aware of the complete details of allocation of funds in their respective railway zones and divisions.
He requested the railway minister to consider all these points and bring it to the notice of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and present a separate railway budget in the next financial year.
