Nizamabad: Three students drown in pond, teachers suspended
NIZAMABAD: Three students who went missing were found to have drowned in a pond at Nagaram in Nizamabad. They were students of the Government Urdu Medium School and went out of the premises after lunch.
The victims were identified as Class III students Azhar and Shoeb, and Class IV student Abbas of the Beedi Workers Quarters.
When they did not find the students, the teachers informed the parents who began searching for them. They lodged a complaint with the V Town police.
On Saturday, a passerby spotted the bodies and informed the police who retrieved them.
It is believed that the victims might have tried to swim in the pond and drowned, The victims’ family staged a protest on the Nizamabad-Varni road seeking justice.
The district education department later suspended school headmaster Siraj, teacher Aziz and and removed vidya volunteer Jaleel from services. They were charged with failing to prevent the three students from leaving the school during working hours.
