Fee regulatory panel issues new few structure

This is in spite of the fact that the new fee is nearly Rs 50,000 more than that of last year.

Thiruvananthapuram: The fee regulatory committee under Justice Rajendra Babu has issued a new fee structure for MBBS courses in the state even as the list for the first phase of allotment is scheduled for Sunday.

Earlier, it was feared that the medical college admission process may run into legal trouble as the fee structure was rejected by the court.

Moreover, the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) had said in a notification that this fee is provisional and subject to the final decision of the government and admission regulatory committee or in accordance with the agreement reached between self-financing college managements and the government. The candidates getting allotments should remit the fees fixed by the fee regulatory committee if the fee based on the agreement is not approved by the court or any competent authority, the notification said. In such circumstances, the announcement of the new fee structure is a relief to government.

However, Kerala State Self-Financing Medical College Management Association said that they will not approve it and would approach the court against the decision on Tuesday.

This is in spite of the fact that the new fee is nearly Rs 50,000 more than that of last year.
