Hyderabad: IPS officer's PSO shoots himself, out of danger

Hyderabad: A constable working as the Personal Security Officer to Retired IPS officer, Mr R.P. Meena attempted suicide by shooting himself with his AK-47 weapon at Prashashannagar in Jubilee Hills.

According to the police, the constable identified as Kishore Babu, 40, is working with the city security wing in Andhra Pradesh and was assigned as the PSO of Mr Meena.

As the former IPS official, is staying at his Jubilee Hills residence, the constable too was present at the time of the incident.

“Around 4.50 pm, the constable took his AK-47 rifle and shot himself on his chest. He sustained a wound and collapsed on the ground,” said Jubilee Hills inspector P. Chandrasekhar.

The constable was rushed to a private hospital where he was operated upon for his wounds. The police said that doctors treating the constable informed that he was out of danger.

The police recovered a note purportedly written by the constable from the room where he stays.

Mr Chandrasekhar said that the constable has been facing financial problems for the last few months and might have resorted to this extreme step due to this.

“We have not yet recorded his statement as he is still under treatment and is unconscious. Once he recovers, we will talk to him,” said the inspector.
