Hyderabad: A police constable working in Medchal police station of Cyberabad commissionerate attempted suicide by hanging at his home in Shameerpet on Friday morning. He is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Suchitra.
The constable identified as Surya Prakash was working in the Shameerpet police station and was transferred to Medchal police station during general transfers about a month ago. He was attending duty regularly.
It is learnt that Prakash was having issues with his family and was not happy with the recent transfer from Shameerpet to Medchal police station.
According to Shameerpet inspector D. Bhaskar Reddy, “Prakash was alone at home and had not attended to his duties for the last three days. His family members are out of town to attend a function.”
On Friday morning, when they called Prakash, he sounded wary, making them suspicious. His family members immediately alerted Bhaskar who rushed to Prakash’s house and saw him hanging from the ceiling.”
Bhaskar rushed Prakash to Russh Super Specialty Hospital in Suchitra. He is in the Intensive Care Unit and his health condition is said to be critical.
There is no confirmation by the police yet about the reasons that forced Prakash to attempt suicide.
