Visakhapatnam: 26,000 petrol pump owners get into GST
Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh is getting revenue of about Rs 9,000 crore in the form of taxes from oil marketing firms. Joint-commissioner of state tax K. Nagendra said this was higher than the Rs 7,000 crore the state got from sale of liquor. In comparison, the taxes pooled from all other sources totalled '18,000 crore, he said, while addressing a GST Outreach Programme for the oil industry and petrol pump owners.
He said five petroleum products — petrol, diesel, aviation turbine fuel, crude oil and compressed natural gas — have been kept out of the ambit of the new tax regime. “But fuel stations dealing with lubricants and other by-products and those bunks having food courts and other services have to migrate to GST,” he pointed out. Out of the 28,000 dealers who were under the VAT regime, 26,000 have so far switched over to the new tax, with the remaining expected to join by this month-end. General manager (finance) of HPCL, Mr N. Ramachandran and Assistant Commissioner of Central Excise Joseph Patil also spoke on the occasion.
