Stirs hit Mahbubnagar districts' timeline
Hyderabad: The agitations in several districts by organisations demanding that their areas be made districts has affected the timeline drawn up by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.
As per the roadmap released on June 8, Mr Rao was scheduled hold a collectors’ conference on July 5 and an all-party Meet on July 10 or 11 to finalise new districts.
While the collectors’ meet was called off, there are no indications that the all-party meet would be held next week as the government wants to reach consensus with agitators who are demanding new districts.
The situation turned volatile in Janagoan in Warangal district and Gadwal in Mahbubnagar district with agitations turning violent.
After the July 10-11 all-party meet, the draft notification was to have been prepared and issued between August 4 and 10. This was to have been kept in the public domain for a month till September 10.
The government was to examine the suggestions received and make changes in the proposals, if required, by September 30 and issue the notification by October 7. The new districts should come into force from Dasara, October 11, according to the roadmap.
