Social equations play key role in picking ZP chiefs
Nizmabad: Social equations and loyalty played a key role in the election of zilla parishad chairpersons in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. TRS senior leader D. Vittal Rao and current ZP chairman Dafedar Raju’s wife Shobha were selected for Nizamabad and Kamareddy ZP chairpersons posts.
The TRS high command chose Vittal Rao for the Nizamabad ZP chief’s post as he has been with the party since its inspection. However, the ZP chief’s post was in the open category and Mr Vittal Rao, being from Velama community, was chosen for the key post. Earlier, Pothangal Kishan Rao, father in-law of former MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, had aspired for the zilla parishad chairman post, but in vain.
Mr Vittal Rao was elected as zilla parishad territorial constituency (ZPTC) member from Makloor mandal unanimously. Under dramatic conditions he was elected to the ZPTC as Congress and BJP candidates withdrew from the fray. Mr Vittal Rao had maintained good rapport with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and hence, got the chance.
Nizamabad rural MLA Bajireddy Govardhan’s son Bajireddy Jagan, former ZP vice chairperson G.Sumana Reddy also aspired for the ZP chief’s post, but the party set aside their proposals. Reportedly, all five TRS MLAs in Nizamabad district favoured the candidature of Mr Vittal Rao for his direct contact with the high command.
In Kamareddy district, Dafedar Shobha was chosen for the ZP chairperson post as it was reserved for Backward Classes woman category. Dafedar Raju was ZP chairman for undivided Nizamabad district for last five years.
He is a close follower of Assembly Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy and Jukkal MLA Hanmanth Shinde. The Party high command took local equations into consideration and gave a second chance to the Dafedar family for the ZP chief post.
