Bengaluru: 128 spots prone to flooding, BBMP to conduct inspection
Bengaluru: BBMP will inspect areas prone to the water logging in the city, as identified by the traffic police department. In a report submitted to BBMP, the police department has pin pointed 128 spots in the city that were vulnerable to water logging and caused traffic gridlocks during rains.
The BBMP has studied the report and assured to take action and ensure that there is no water logging.
A senior BBMP officer said, “We have seen the report and soon we will form a team, which will inspect these spots and submit a report with the solution required.”
“The locations identified by the traffic police and the BBMP are similar except for few places. We are already working towards ensuring that the underpasses do not get inundated during rains. The outlets at these underpasses get clogged due to the mud and waste materials like plastic covers and wrappers and these are being cleared,” the officer added.
He also mentioned that they will take the help of the traffic police to identify possible solution to avoid water logging, as they have a better idea about the situation on the ground.
“Their inputs will be taken and we shall see how feasible it is. But we have assured that there will be no traffic congestion during the rains in the coming monsoon. The work from the BBMP is also picking pace and will ensure that the commute during the rain will be hassle free,” the officer said.
A senior officer from the traffic department confirmed that they will provide valuable inputs to the BBMP to prevent water logging. “We should work with co-ordination to draw a possible solution and our traffic police personnel are already providing the necessary information,” he said.
