Rs 7 lakh solatium for Prathiba's family
Chennai: Expressing concern over the suicide of medical college aspirant Prathiba in Villupuram on Tuesday, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami has urged students not to resort to the extreme step for failing in exams. He also announced a solatium of Rs 7 lakh to the family of Prathiba who allegedly committed suicide for failing to clear the Neet.
Expressing deep anguish over Prathiba’s death Palaniswami conveyed his condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family of 19-year-old girl.

Appealing to students not to resort to such an extreme measure, Palaniswami, while making a statement in the Assembly on Wednesday, the state government, which is functioning on the path shown by former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa would always strive for the welfare of students.
Welcoming the Chief Minister's announcement on relief, leader of the Opposition and DMK working president M. K. Stalin sought to know if the government would provide job to the family member of the deceased, taking into account their "economically poor background".
