Oath-taking throws traffic out of gear in CBD areas
Bengaluru: Traffic on Raj Bhavan Road was badly hit as 25 ministers were sworn in by Governor Vajubhai Vala on Wednesday afternoon.
Motorists had a tough time as traffic gridlocks stretched from Police Thimmaiah Circle to Chalukya Circle. Traffic jams were witnessed at Minsk Square, Ambedkar Veedhi, Chalukya Circle and surrounding areas. The worst hit were Ambedkar Veedhi, Race Course Road, Sankey Tank Road, Sheshadri Road, MG Road, KR Circle and surrounding areas.
As the traffic was diverted, vehicles piled up on Trinity Circle, Residency Road and Richmond Road till Town hall.
Asked about the chaos, a senior police officer said that the road in front of Raj Bhavan is narrow and there are no alternative routes to reach the governor’s official residence. “To ease the flow of traffic, diversions were made, but it led to pile-ups in other surrounding areas. The ceremony ended at 4 pm, and by 4.45 pm, we managed to streamlined the traffic,” the official said.
