Curb illegal b' category quota: Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika
Hyderabad: Telangana Vidyarthi Vedika (TVV) demanded curbing of the illegal business of ‘B’ category quota in engineering colleges. Student leaders of TVV said that engineering colleges should fill 70 per cent of seats through convener quota, 15 percent through NRI, and remaining 15 per cent through the management quota, of which 30 per cent should be filled according to merit.
Menchu Sandeep of TVV said ‘’Engineering colleges in the state are selling ‘B’ category seats and NRI seats as per their wish and deceiving students by saying that the ‘B’ category and NRI seats are already filled, even before filling the convener quota. TVV condemns this Illegal business.’’
He adds “If there are no applications from JEE Mains rankers, these seats should be filled through EAMCET ranking or Inter marks and the list of students joining by this process should be declared in the college website. But, engineering colleges are selling seats to students who give more money which is illegal. We demand that the state higher Education Officers take action against these colleges.”
