Produce Madan before Madras High Court, petitions mother
Chennai: The mother of missing film producer Madan has approached the Madras high court to direct police to produce her son before the court and set him at liberty.
A Division Bench comprising Justices S.Nagamuthu and V.Bharathidasan before whom the habeas corpus petition by R.S.Thangam came up for hearing said the Additional public prosecutor (APP) on instructions submitted that so far as the missing of Madan was concerned, on the complaint of petitioner, a case had been registered on June 1. He further submitted there were several complaints against Madan to Valasaravakkam police station alleging he had collected money from students and their parents on the promise of getting admission in SRM University. All these complaints have now been transferred to CCB, Chennai, for further action. But the Additional public prosecutor had no information whether any case had been registered on these complaints or not.
He sought time to get further instructions. In view of the above, the Bench said, the HCP was being adjourned to June 8 enabling APP to get further instructions. In the meantime, the search for Madan should continue, the Bench added.
According to petitioner, Madan was missing for the past several days. He had left for Delhi in connection with his work on May 27 and he spoke to her the next day. On May 29, instead of his return to Chennai, she received a WhatsApp message of a letter stating about the business transaction with SRM Vendar and his broken state of mind to end his life in Kasi.
On May 30, her relatives preferred a complaint with Virugambakkam police station. The next day, she herself lodged a complaint with police Commissioner.
The letter written by her son elucidates there were some money transactions with SRM.
The letter raises apprehension of being kidnapped. No case was registered by police on her complaint. No action had been initiated till now. Unless, investigation was done, her son’s whereabouts will not be known, she said.
