Tamil Nadu produces 5 toppers in CBSE Class 10 results

Kaviya found a place in the list of 97 toppers from across the country.

Chennai: B. Kaviya Varshini from Vidhya Niketan Public School in Coimbatore who scored 497/500 and secured the national-level third rank in the Class 10 CBSE examinations and Dipshika B of Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam who secured All India 4thrank with 496 out of 500 marks are among the five toppers from the state.

P. Kavisha of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Virugambakkam, Chennai, who scored 496 marks, and Rhea Joseph of Chennai Public School, Annanagar west, and Shivani E of Trinity International School Mohanur Road, Namakkal, who scored 495 each are the other toppers in the Class 10 board exam results announced by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Monday. The Chennai region recorded a pass percentage of 99%.

Kaviya found a place in the list of 97 toppers from across the country. She scored centums in Mathematics, Science and Social Science, 99 in Tamil and 98 in English.

The school management of Velammal Vidyalaya, Mel Ayanambakkam from where Dipshika secured the all India 4th rank, said 5 students got above 490 marks and 29 students scored above 480 while 46 students secured above 475. The school also produced 100 % results for the 9th consecutive year.

As per the results announced on Monday the Chennai region, which encompasses Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Goa, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Daman and Diu, has recorded 99 per cent pass percentage and is behind the Trivandrum region, which recorded 99.85 % — the highest in the country.

Of the 17.61 lakh students who appeared for the board exam from across the country, nearly 2.25 lakh students scored above 90 %. The exams were conducted from Feb. 15 to April 4. The 91.1 % pass percentage is 4.4 percentage higher than last year's pass percentage of 86.7 %. Students from Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas had higher than average pass percentages of 99.5 % and 98.6 % respectively, students from government and government-aided schools lagged far behind, with pass percentages of 77 % and 72 % respectively.

CBSE has made arrangements to provide Class 10 digital academic documents (Marksheets, Migration Certificate and Pass Certificate) through its own academic repository 'Parinam Manjusha' which is integrated with DigiLocker at https://digilocker.gov.in. The DigiLocker account credentials will be sent to students via SMS on their mobile number registered with CBSE.
