Salem: A lightning investigation by Pallapatti sub-inspector (SI) Ayub Khan enabled the retrieval of hall tickets and ‘Aadhaar’ cards of two girl medical college aspirants at Salem new bus station from a youth in just ten minutes, enabling them to take the ‘Neet’ exam here on Sunday.

Two girls from Pachchanampatti in Dharmapuri district, accompanied by their parents, reached here by bus to take the ‘Neet’ exam, when they suddenly found their bags containing the hall tickets and ‘Aadhaar’ cards, had been stolen by some unknown person.

The dismayed father of one of the girls immediately gave a complaint at the Pallapatti police station at the new bus terminus complex. Ayub Khan, the SI there, swung into action, checked the CCTV footages and zeroed in on a youth standing at a bus bay. He quickly nabbed him and found the bags which had the girls’ hall tickets and ‘Aadhaar’ cards.

The youth, found to be an MBA graduate, was later remanded to judicial custody. Salem commissioner K Shankar was all praise for SI's quick investigation and gave him a reward.
