Kerala records 98.11 per cent pass in SSLC exams
Thiruvananthapuram: The state recorded a pass percentage of 98.11 in the SSLC examinations, an increase of 0.27 per cent compared to last year. As many as 37,334 students obtained A-plus in all subjects while 3,021 had obtained A-plus for all subjects last time.
Out of the 37,334 students, 11,684 are boys and 25,650 girls. A total of 1,170 SC/ST students received A+ grades.
A total of 599 government schools obtained 100 percentage (517 last year). Pathanamthitta district is the best performer in Kerala with 99.3 per cent pass. The district with the lowest pass percentage is Wayanad (93.22).
The examination board which met on Monday morning approved the results.
The meeting was chaired by additional director of public instruction Jessy Joseph who is in charge of DPI. General education secretary A. Shajahan announced the results.
Out of 4, 35,142 students who appeared for the exams this year, 4, 26,513 have become eligible for higher studies. A total of 2,12,615 girls wrote the exams. No moderation was given this time.
From Lakshadweep, 87.96 percent students passed. Out of 495 students, 489 qualified from the Gulf region. Malappuram registered the highest number of full A+ grades with 5,970.
The board exams were held from March 13 to 28 across 2,923 centres in the state and nine centres each in Lakshadweep and Gulf countries. The evaluation was held across 54 centres and completed in a record time of 14 days. Prior to the declaration of SSLC results, the education minister took to Facebook and shared his good wishes with the students. The results of the higher secondary examinations will be announced on Friday.
Thiruvananthapuram tops CBSE Class X results with 99.85 per cent
The students from Thiruvananthapuram have topped the CBSE class X results with 99.85 per cent, followed by Chennai (99 per cent) and Ajmer (95.89 per cent).
In 2018 also, the Thiruvananthapuram region topped with 99.60 percent pass.
The top-ranked candidate from the state is Bhavana N. Sivadas (499 marks) of Palakkad Lions School, Koppam. She is also among the 13 students in the all-India level with 499 marks to share the all-India first rank.
The second-ranked candidates are Adheena Elsa Roy, Silver Hills Public school, Marikunnu, Kozhikode, Salma A.N., Le Mer Public school, Triprayar, Nattika, Thrissur, Sirin X.A. Xavier of Vimal Jyothy Central School, Mupliyam, Thrissur. The third-ranked candidates are Elizabeth Jacob, Mar Baselios public school, Manganam, Kottayam, Gokul Nair Arya Central School, Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram, Easha A. Pai, Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Giri Nagar, Kochi, Athul Vijay K, St Joseph’s English medium school, Angadipuram, Malappuram and Gadha Suresh, Vijayagiri public school, Chalakudy, Thrissur with 497 marks.
The top three-ranked candidates among children with special need category in the all- India level are from the state. Dilwin Prince with 493 marks of Devamatha CMI Public School, Thiruvambadi, Thrissur, who is a hearing-impaired student, came first, Savan Vishoy with 492 marks of Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Naval Base, Kochi, a visually-impaired, is second, and Irene Tresa Mathew with 491 marks of Christu Jayanthi public school, Kakkanad, Kochi, a dyslexic candidate, came third.
