Karimnagar: Manakondur police personnel in Karimnagar district have celebrated the birthday of a contractor inside the police station, violating the departmental rules and inviting the disciplinary action by the commissioner.
On Saturday night, Manakondur circle inspector Indrasena Reddy and other police personnel celebrated the birthday of civil contractor Ravinder Reddy inside the police station.
The contractor is a resident of Gangaram village of Veenavanka mandal.
The video of the birthday party inside the police station had gone viral on social media on Sunday, forcing the top authorities of the police department to take note of it.
The celebration involving a civilian in the police station is against the police department rules and regulations.
Reacting to the video, Karimnagar police commissioner V.B. Kamalasan Reddy on Monday ordered an official inquiry into the incident.
Speaking about the incident to this newspaper, Mr Kamalasan Reddy said the disciplinary action would be taken against the police personnel, who were responsible for flouting the departmental rules.
“Celebrating the birthday of a civilian inside the police station is against the departmental rules and appropriate action would be taken against those who participate in such type of activities,” the Karimnagar police commissioner added.
