Hyderabad: 60 junk ambulances gutted

Hyderbad: Around 60 scrapped 108 ambulances were gutted after the fire broke out at the GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute in Shamirpet on Monday. According to the fire safety officials, the property lost in the fire is estimated to be around Rs 15 lakh.

Jeedimetla Station fire officer told this newspaper that, “We have received information about the fire accident at around 1:30 pm on Monday and we immediately rushed to the spot with two fire engines. It took nearly two hours to douse the fire. The fire came under control by 4:30 pm in the evening.”

State head of operations from GVK, Mr. Brahmanandam told this newspaper that, “Since ten years the 108 ambulances, which have been non-functional, due to some technical issues, were parked in the scrapped yard. Out of these as many as 60 108 ambulances were gutted. We are suspecting the fire broke out after dry grass caught fire from the heat.”
