Telangana farmers seek action against Varanasi bureaucrats
Nizamabad: All Indian Turmeric Farmers Association (AITFA) demanded action against police, intelligence and election officials in Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency of Uttar Pradesh.
Around 50 turmeric farmers from Telangana state tried to file nominations in Varanasi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi is contesting to highlight the plight of the farmers, but officials deliberately prevented them, claimed the association leaders.
They submitted a memorandum to the Election Commi-ssion in New Delhi on Monday.
Speaking to newsmen, AITFA national president P.K. Deivasigamani, Telangana and Tamil Nadu state unit presidents Kotapati Narasi-mha Naidu and K. Rama Gounder said that election officials in Varanasi did not cooperate with turmeric farmers and accepted one out of the 25 nominations.
