TN boy writes NEET in Kerala, dad accompanying him dies of heart attack
Ernakulam: A 46-year-old man from Tamil Nadu, who brought his son from his native Vilakkudi town in Tiruvarur district to take the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), died of cardiac arrest on Sunday morning even as Kasturi Mahalingam completed the test unaware of his father’s death.
Preliminary finding indicated that stress and anxiety in rushing his son to the faraway centre, reportedly traveling standing in the train as he could not get a berth, and some hiccups in finding the exam centre, could have led to the heart attack of Krishnasamy Srinivasan, a farmer of modest means.
Staff at the hotel where he had checked in with his son on late Saturday, said Krishnasamy appeared stressed and repeatedly enquired about the centre, the Nalanda Public School at Thammanam and the time it would take to reach it. He also went to the centre before retiring to bed.
However, he told a friend working at the hotel that he was feeling uncomfortable and requested him to reach his son to the Neet centre.
When the friend returned from the school, he found Krishnasamy in a bad shape and rushed him to a nearby hospital where the man died without responding to treatment.
