Neet 2018: Bio paper easy; chemistry questions were ambiguous

There were 24 questions asked from the 12th standard syllabus and 21 questions from the Class XI syllabus.

Hyderabad: Biology was easiest; Physics was lengthy and tough while Chemistry was 75 per cent easy and 25 per cent tough, according to Neet candidates from Hyderabad who appeared for the exam held on Sunday.

There were 24 questions asked from the 12th standard syllabus and 21 questions from the Class XI syllabus. This section had two difficult questions, nine moderate questions and 34 easy questions.

There were many calculation-based questions. Chemistry was the moderate section amongst the three. This section was not lengthy. There were 20 questions asked from the Class XII syllabus and 20 questions from the Class XI syllabus.

This section had one difficult question, 20 moderate questions and 24 easy questions. Most questions were based on simple concepts.

Biology was the easiest section amongst the three. However, this section was not lengthy. There were 46 questions asked from the Class XII syllabus and 44 questions from the Class XI syllabus. It was easier than last year, and had very few application-based questions.

Rajshekhar Ratrey, an expert from VP Educational Content, Toppr.com said, “In terms of difficulty level, NEET 2018 was slightly easier than last year’s papers. Most questions were not time consuming. There were similarities between the weightage of marks in this paper, and the Class XII syllabus. Physics was the toughest section amongst the three and Chemistry was the moderate section amongst the three and was not lengthy whereas Biology was the easiest section.

Most of the questions in Biology were directly from NCERT and were concept based. Most students found the paper moderate and expected marks in the range of 350-400’’.

Kumar Veeramalu, Dean, Chaithanya Educational Institutions, said, “Physics and Biology papers were a bit tough in comparison with last year. Chemistry paper was relatively easier than last year but there were a few ambiguities due to which scoring becomes little difficult. Overall the paper was really good and better than last year.’’
