Telangana drafts new retail policy
Hyderabad: The draft copy of “New Retail Policy”, intended to give a fillip to employment in the industry sector, was on Friday sent to the TS Cabinet for approval.
The draft copy of the policy was deliberated upon at a high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma and attended by officials from industries and other departments.
Industries principal secretary Arvind Kumar explained to the CS that the policy was framed with the objective of boosting TS position in the retail trade within the country and to create more employment opportunities.
He said that the policy would enable retailers to undertake stocking and inventory management between 5 am and 2 am.
“The enterprise can undertake their logistics and supply purposes to meet necessary operational requirements. Women employees will be permitted to work beyond 10 pm after taking care of all safety precautions on par with service sector,” he said.
Mr Kumar explained to the CS that retail enterprises would be given an option of self-certification and filing of consolidated annual returns under various Acts administered by the labour department.
Municipal administration special chief secretary M.G. Gopal, principal secretaries Ajay Mishra and Rajiv Trivedi, industries commissioner Manick Raj and other officials took part in the meeting.
