Freed from jail, Bandi demands judicial probe into SSC paper leak

Sanjay said that BJP would continue its tenacious fight against BRS misrule

Hyderabad: Shortly after walking out of the Karimnagar jail after being granted bail in the SSC Hindi question paper leak case on Friday, Telangana BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar vowed to expand the party's demand for a probe by a High Court judge to include the leak of SSC exam papers, along those of the TSPSC.

Sanjay, speaking to the media after being released from jail on Friday, said the BJP would continue its tenacious fight against BRS misrule while criticising the Chandrashekar Rao-led state government for the manner in which he was arrested, questioning how he was detained without being given a notice.

Sanjay, who was arrested after midnight on Wednesday in connection with the SSC paper leak and was remanded to 14-day judicial custody before securing bail, stated that the BJP would step up its agitation for a judicial investigation into the TSPSC exam paper leak, and that the party's demand that IT minister K.T. Rama Rao be removed from the Cabinet over the issue had not changed.

Additionally, he demanded a Rs. 1-lakh compensation to each student affected by the TSPSC paper leak, claiming that 30 lakh candidates had suffered.

“The BJP will not back down from its demands for thorough investigations into these paper leaks. We will intensify our protests to demand accountability from the government.

Further, claiming that Warangal police commissioner A.V. Ranganath "has no idea what he is doing and he displayed his utter inefficiency in investigating the case," the BJP state president challenged the police officer to swear on his cap, which bears the National Emblem of the Sarnath Lions, that he was telling the truth.

“By naming me and arresting me, he displayed his utter inefficiency in investigating the case. We will not let him go free after this, he will have to face the consequences for his actions,” Sanjay remarked.

"Just because someone sent me a question paper, does it imply that I am involved," Sanjay asked, adding that the charges that the person who shared the question paper was known to him were absurd. “Several hundred people take selfies and share information with me. I am willing to swear under oath that I had nothing to do with the SSC question paper leaks. Is the Warangal CP ready to do the same,” Sanjay asked.

The BJP leader stated that the police “behaved in a most heartless manner” when they detained him illegally without a warrant. “The police raided my house. I was in Karimnagar to attend the ninth day ceremony of my mother-in-law who treated me like a son. I was to perform the rites but the police did not even let me do that. We will seek legal remedies over the police action, the raid on my house. I have absolutely no connection with the SSC question papers leak issue.”
